Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) happens to fall on Saturday May 4th, alongside "Star Wars Day" this year, so folks can double-celebrate their geekery this weekend, and I think that is an awesome-cool happenstance!

Over at Giant Robot 2 on Sawtelle, FCBD celebrates with "Uglydoll Comics" with a David Horvath signing at 3pm, with the parody of "Action Comics" featuring images from "Book 1" (79 pages priced at US$7.99) with stories by James Kolchaka and Le Merde … I wonder if the "super"-plush characters (seen below) will make an appearance? They seem pretty apt to the occasion too, don't they?

Toy Art Gallery presents "Fight For Your Right", with this first annual custom boxing glove showcase launching Saturday May 4th, 2013 from 7pm-10pm. A showing in New York city will immediately follow on May 9th, 2013. "Fight For Your Right" Custom Boxing Glove Showcase at TAG is a one night event, and you can see more details via their Facebook page, including the full participating artists list. Fight The City makes artist-driven gloves and gear to give fighters a choice of how to express themselves when they step into the ring. Toy Art Gallery will be exhibiting and selling 10 pairs of gloves exclusively, while the remaining gloves will be auctioned off at the New York city showing on May 9th on Fight The City's eBay page. A portion of all gloves proceeds benefit the Hoods to Woods Foundation. This foundation helps inner city kids get out to the wilderness to learn, grow, and become all they can be through outdoor activities such as snowboarding. Pyramid Artifact from Maximum Fluoride (May 2-drop)

Mike “Maximum Fluoride” Fisher sends word of the release of two new editions of his Pyramid Artifact through frankkozik.net, with a drop scheduled for Thursday May 2nd. Standing 5 1/4 inch tall, the White edition is priced at US$55 and is an open edition with the first 50 pieces, while the Eye Of Odin is limited to just 25 pieces and priced at US$70 per. 3A Toys-fans know by now the "Dark Cowboy IN THE SERVICE OF HIM SUPER SET" went on sale yesterday starting 9AM Hong Kong time (Priced at US$270 with a 4th quarter 2013 ship-out) … and of course there would be a "surprise drop", in the form of a ASCEND BLIND THE WHITE! A Single articulated 1/6th-figure (sans non-articulate horse) along with a "Devil Robot Head" for US$120, and of course as with all "surprise drops", they are listed at random times (in batches). And what you have going for it is the above-right illustration instead of a product picture.

Super7 is going all-out to celebrate "Star Wars Day" on May 4th, with a slew of activities and releases at their San Francisco store, including the above “LEIA’S STORY” print from Amy Mebberson - who will be in attendance to sign and meet folks (1-3pm). Released by ACME, they are price at US$50 each, in two editions: 200 pieces with Brown Border, and a "Variant Edition" of Pink Border with only 50 pieces to be had!
