UGLYCON begins June 15th @ Giant Robot 2 at Sawtelle Boulevard (yes, I posted about this before) and above is a fancy new flyer image to share, along with previews and teasers for the "Sew Babo Project" (posted below, all snatched from the bosom of varied Instagrammage) which will be on display at GR2, along with comics and a costume parade photowalk = Good times to be had, methinks!

About That Online Order Only "Witch Delivery" Hello Kitty Plush from McDonalds

Waking up this Friday morning, I was pretty keen to grab myself a McDees breakfast, and having read that the "Witch Delivery" Hello Kitty Plush was available only via home delivery orders (on Facebook, where the news reside these days lol), I dashed straight to log in … but alas, my plans were foiled, with online orders halted till June 3rd!

The smarter, and obviously more "experienced Hello Kitty plush-collectors, had exercised the "Advance Order" option, and flooded the system, no doubt! Maaaaan, they had better have some of that plush ready and waiting by then tho! LOL

TOYSREVIL Reviews: Wizard of Oz - Hello Kitty x McDonalds Plush (Week 1)

Having just blogged about the new Hello Kitty x McDonald's plush promotions starting today may 30th in Singapore, I had to satisfy my curiosity and head on to a local McDees store … and as I walked towards the service counter (which was around the corner but not facing me), I could see a Malay lady taking a snap of her son holding up a box to his face, and I was thinking: "Does this plush promo come in a box, like in Hong Kong and Malaysia?" … and true enough, it was! Frankly I was more blown away with the box packaging than the plush itself!




Week 1 of the promotions sees Hello Kitty wearing a "lion"-suit, in the "Wizard of Ox" - in their "FAIRY TALES" series - also stated on the box holding the plush, which was made to look like a thick book! The flip open "cover" was a swell touch, to reveal the window-display, with Kitty peeking from behind! I am SOLD!

The fact that the entire item comes sealed in a plastic bag was a nice touch already, IMHO.

The thing is, you get to pay SGD$4.60 additional for the plush, but only if you purchase an EXTRA VALUE MEAL, not a "Happy Meal" as you might expect! So I forked out an extra SGD$5.00 more for a double cheese burger, fries and a small soda to score this plush.

Would I be able to stomach 5 more meals (costing nearly $50 more) to be able to secure the entire set? Stay tuned to find out! LOL

You know you've got bitten by the Hello Kitty Plush-bug when you spend an extraordinarily amount of time clicking thru the web looking at images of what this picture might yield … and thanks to this site with bountiful images, the "mystery" is solved, and I am thinking I might be visiting McDees very soon, like TOMORROW "Soon" … ooohhhh boy …


I am so totally down with the black-Kitty myself, although the rest of the designs in this "Fairytale Series" looks adorable-ish … please do not mind my gushing here … maybe tis just a phase, maybe tis a need to gratify my cheap(er) toy desires, or maybe tis just morbid curiosity at work here … like it was last time …

Seen @ #SWDJKT 2013: Giant Ewok Plush

No, the giant Ewok plush is NOT creepy, not creepy at aaaallll … seen sitting down next to the Ewok toy-diorama display (wished I had more snaps of it tho) at last weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta was this humongous plush Ewok, which no doubt made for a swell photo-op (which I regret not taking pictures of myself alongside with…). If there were more, they could be standing together and be greeting attendees as they walked in thru the entrance, where this display was location … heh :)

And while there are customs underway to help celebrate Cavey's 3rd Birthday to be held at the Fleet River Bakery in London, te buying public is not left out of the festivities, with the announcement of BIRTHDAY OARTY CAVEYS to be released! Are you ready for "Cherry Chocolate Cupcake-vey" and "Vinyl Cake-vey"?

Star Wars Plush by Castella Natalia (for "Art Project" @ Star Wars Day Jakarta)

One standout display at the "Art Project" arena (for me personally) at the weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta, were these charming plush creations from Tattoo Artist / Painter / Illustrator / Designer / Teacher / Model Castella Natalia! Featuring the iconic characters - not to forget the huge X-Wing fighter - from the Star Wars movies, depicted as Super-Deformed-Chibish hand-painted on the fabric surface!

As I gushed silently at the pieces, I had the good opportunity to actually meet the gorgeous creator herself on Sunday! And I was gifted with a splendid Darth Vader! (either that or a Chewie lol). OMG was I gushing like an idiot - at both her beauty, and the plush, of course!

UGLYDOLL x DC Comics Plush

We've been seeing teasers of a Babo Superman and Icebat Batman (2 versions actually) UGLYDOLL plush for a while now (but of course I will collect them here in one spot, for YOU, my friends!), and today Fanboy Factor reveals that it is an official collabo product with DC Comics!

Based on the classic designs (and you know tis "classic" as there are no high-collars and the underwear is still on the outside ;p), they will be previewed at summer Gift Shows and ASTRA show in June. As well they will be on show at San Diego Comic Con via the Diamond Comics booths, and via their PREVIEWS catalog. FUNKO (and others) will also be on hand to launch merchandise in time for the holiday season.

PRESS: 'Pretty Ugly, LLC. and Warner Bros. Consumer Products, on behalf of DC Entertainment, announced today that they have entered into a co-branded collaboration with DC Comics Super Heroes and UGLYDOLL characters. GUND, a division of Enesco, will produce a diverse range of colorful and collectible Super Hero plush based on the DC Comics and UGLYDOLL character universes. The initial release this fall will be a trio that includes two versions of Ice-Bat™ as Batman™ and Babo™ as Superman™.

Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) happens to fall on Saturday May 4th, alongside "Star Wars Day" this year, so folks can double-celebrate their geekery this weekend, and I think that is an awesome-cool happenstance!

Over at Giant Robot 2 on Sawtelle, FCBD celebrates with "Uglydoll Comics" with a David Horvath signing at 3pm, with the parody of "Action Comics" featuring images from "Book 1" (79 pages priced at US$7.99) with stories by James Kolchaka and Le Merde … I wonder if the "super"-plush characters (seen below) will make an appearance? They seem pretty apt to the occasion too, don't they?

The Walking Dead 7" Plushies from Funko

Seeing the title in my email inbox, didn't really fill me up with any sort of excitement, until I literally saw the images, and realized they are pretty awesome! Four designs to be had from Funko: "Daryl Dixon" and "Rick Grimes" on the side of the humans, and "Bicycle Girl" and "Well Zombie" gagging for human flesh.
