Anime Matsuri @ Funan DigitaLife Mall, Singapore (May 27 - June 2)

Happening right now at Funan DigitaLife Mall, Singapore, is "Anime Matsuri" - an event supported by Anime Festival Asia, opening since May 27th, and exhibiting thru June 2nd, where Level 1 of the Main Atrium has been transformed with the aim to celebrate all-things "anime" for Japan Pop-Culture Week in Singapore.

Expect Cosplay-galore (which Singapore is a hot-bed for) featuring celeb-snames like Japan's Kaname, Natumi (from Taiwan), Clive (from Singapore), Ying Tze and Angie (from Malaysia). Festivities also include Anime Screening, Butler & Maid Cafes, and of course merchandize. Looks to be a mini AFA isn't it? Check out further details here.

LIONCITY CLANS: 36 Chambers Graff Jam exhibition 2013

LION CITY CLANS: THE 36 CHAMBERS is a graffiti art jam cum exhibition in conjunction with the RADIKAL FORZE 15TH ANNIVERSARY B-BOY JAM. I've only featured a few crews' work and walls, now this video showcases ALL the crew involved in this event, curated by ZERO of RSCLS/SOLIDARITY21. To an "outsider" like me looking into the scene, it is always awesome to see the work out in from the urban artists which populate Singapore's artscape, IMHO.

Final Previews for "Anthology of the Abysmal" by ZERO (May 9 Opening)

The time this post is published, ZERO's solo show "Anthology of the Abysmal" would have opened at 7pm at the Chan Hampe Gallery in Raffles Arcade. Exhibiting thru May 26th. what is intriguing about the artwork previewed this far (with the above posted adding to this and this), is that they are applied predominantly via aerosol paints and stencil - the "traditional mediums of street artists" - with the results seen thus far, a distinct commentary of "life" amidst an explosion of colors, and perhaps inner stories to be told ... and you would do well to "listen" carefully...

And the "mystery" is solved, with the solo show by ZERO titled "Anthology of the Abysmal", launching May 9th at the Chan Hampe Gallery at Raffles Hotel Arcade (Unit #01-20/2) exhibiting thru May 26th, 2013. PRESS: "As a reactionary artist, ZERO's previous works negotiated the oddity of street and graffiti art in regulated space while creating social commentaries on the notion of society and space in Singapore. Developing further his usual subject matter concerning current affairs and social issues, ZERO's new exhibition shifts into more personal territory, delving into the emotional life of the artist.

This current series of self-portraits uses the traditional mediums of street artists, predominantly aerosol paints and stencil. Graffiti and street art has been the cause of great contention in Singapore's recent history and debates on the use of public space still run rife with cases such as the "Sticker Lady" and the Haji Lane shophouse incident late last year.
